Expert Review & Verdict
Stream2Watch Sports Editorial Desk • Audited October 2026
The Verdict
Our Verdict: MAXtv Go is the definitive "TV Everywhere" companion application for Hrvatski Telekom subscribers in Croatia. It successfully extends the traditional set-top box experience to smartphones, tablets, and computers, allowing users to watch live television and catch-up content seamlessly on the go. The inclusion of up to 14 days of catch-up TV on major channels and the ability to stream simultaneously on a home TV and a mobile device add significant practical value. However, it is strictly a supplementary service; it cannot be purchased as a standalone, cord-cutting product without an underlying MAXtv subscription. Additionally, while the channel lineup is extensive, the mobile app interface can occasionally feel utilitarian compared to native, standalone streaming applications, and video quality is inherently dependent on the user's mobile data connection.

In-Depth Platform Analysis & Coverage
MAXtv Go operates as the official over-the-top (OTT) companion service for Hrvatski Telekom’s MAXtv platform. Designed as a "TV Everywhere" solution, it allows existing cable and fiber television subscribers to access their authorized channel lineup remotely via iOS, Android, and web browser applications. The service is deeply integrated into the broader Hrvatski Telekom ecosystem, often bundled for free with comprehensive "Internet + TV" packages for the first 24 months of a contract.
The platform’s core strength lies in its flexibility and continuity. Users can start watching a program on their living room television and seamlessly continue on their mobile device without interruption. The electronic program guide (EPG) is comprehensive, and the catch-up TV feature, which retains broadcasts for up to 14 days on select major networks, effectively eliminates the need for a physical digital video recorder. The service also supports premium add-on packages, such as MAXtv Go Premium, which unlocks extensive sports channel lineups including Arenasport and Sport Klub.
The limitations are primarily structural. MAXtv Go is not a standalone streaming service; it strictly requires an active, paid MAXtv subscription from Hrvatski Telekom, making it inaccessible to cord-cutters or users of competing internet providers. Furthermore, strict IP-based geo-blocking ensures the service only functions within Croatia, limiting its utility for travelers or the diaspora. While the streaming infrastructure is generally stable, the mobile application’s user interface prioritizes function over form, occasionally feeling dated compared to modern, purpose-built streaming apps. High-definition streaming on mobile networks also consumes significant data, requiring users to monitor their cellular allowances

What to Consider (Cons)
- Cannot be purchased as a standalone service; requires an active MAXtv subscription
- Strict geo-blocking prevents access for users residing or traveling outside of Croatia
- Mobile app interface is functional but lacks the modern polish of standalone streaming apps
- High-definition mobile streaming can quickly deplete cellular data allowances
