Expert Review & Verdict

The Verdict
Our Verdict: RTS Planeta functions as the official direct-to-consumer digital distribution pipeline and diaspora portal for Radio Television of Serbia, transmitting unencrypted domestic feeds free of charge within Serbia and via a €4.99/mo subscription for international viewers. Live sports coverage delivers protected national team events in 1080p 50fps, including FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro qualifiers, Olympic Games disciplines, and the Davis Cup across linear channels RTS 1 and RTS 2. However, tier-one club football competitions like the Serbian SuperLiga, UEFA Champions League, and Premier League are completely absent due to Arena Sport and Sport Klub pay-TV exclusivity, concurrent streaming strictly enforces a single active screen ceiling per subscriber account, and sports transmissions outside Serbia face frequent international territorial blackout restrictions.

In-Depth Platform Analysis & Coverage
RTS Planeta serves as the centralized over-the-top streaming platform and multimedia archive operated by Radio Television of Serbia (RTS), the public service broadcaster of the Republic of Serbia. Transmitting five primary linear television feeds (RTS 1, RTS 2, RTS 3, RTS Svet, and RTS Nauka) and eight thematic radio channels via adaptive bitrate HLS unicast delivery pipelines across desktop web browsers, iOS, Android, Android TV, Google TV, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung Tizen, and LG webOS connected televisions, the platform caters to domestic cord-cutters and the worldwide Serbian diaspora. Its live athletic broadcasting portfolio is anchored by public interest events involving Serbian national squads, delivering digital telecasts of FIFA World Cup qualifiers, UEFA European Championship matches featuring Serbia, Olympic Games tournaments, FIVB Volleyball Nations League matches, Davis Cup tennis ties, and World Athletics championships.
Video transmission outputs up to 1080p high definition operating at 50 frames per second with stereo 2.0 audio feeds, accompanied by domestic Serbian commentary teams and localized studio analysis. Digital broadcast mechanics incorporate an automated 72-hour backward electronic program guide catch-up buffer, in-player live restart controls (Gledaj ispočetka), and an on-demand video archive (Videoteka) containing classic film restorations, documentary features, and historical sports retrospectives. Personal cloud DVR recording functionality is omitted in favor of the rolling 72-hour catch-up window. Playback concurrency strictly restricts active streaming to one display screen per authenticated subscriber account across household devices. App transmission is free of charge for IP addresses connecting within the domestic borders of the Republic of Serbia, whereas international diaspora users must maintain an active paid subscription tier; however, specific marquee international athletic broadcasts outside Serbia remain subject to territorial blackouts when third-party regional broadcasters command exclusive local carriage.
What We Like (Pros)

- • Low-cost €4.99/mo direct diaspora access provides legal international coverage of Serbian cultural and national sports
- • Fluid 1080p 50fps broadcast feeds maintain clean picture quality during high-speed football and basketball action
- • Flexible subscription options with no multi-year lock-in agreements or cancellation penalties
What to Consider (Cons)
- • Simultaneous app transmission strictly restricts playback to 1 active display screen per account
- • Domestic Serbian SuperLiga club football and European club tournaments are absent, requiring Arena Sport
- • Lacks personal cloud DVR storage, relying entirely on the temporary 72-hour rolling catch-up buffer
- • International diaspora streams encounter territorial blackouts during select sports events due to foreign rights holders
