About NBA
The National Basketball Association stands as the premier men's professional basketball league in the world, running from late October through June. Comprising thirty franchises across the United States and Canada, the league showcases the highest level of athletic talent, shot-making skill, and tactical innovation in the sport. From marquee holiday showdowns to the intensity of the postseason, each campaign tests player durability and depth across thousands of high-tempo possessions.
Top teams
The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers represent the league's most storied historical powerhouses, sharing the top of the all-time championship leaderboard. Contemporary championship contenders like the Denver Nuggets, Milwaukee Bucks, and Golden State Warriors continue to build around generational superstars, while rising forces such as the Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves, and New York Knicks present relentless threats across both conferences. The depth of modern rosters ensures that even rebuilding squads can push top seeds to the wire on any given night.
Format
The season consists of an 82-game regular schedule per club, divided between the Eastern and Western Conferences, alongside the in-season NBA Cup contested during the opening months. Following the regular season, teams seeded seventh through tenth in each conference enter the Play-In Tournament to claim the final two postseason seeds. The remaining sixteen teams clash in the NBA Playoffs, progressing through best-of-seven series across four rounds—First Round, Conference Semifinals, Conference Finals, and the NBA Finals—to crown the world champion.
Viewership
The league commands massive domestic television and streaming numbers across national broadcast partners including ABC, ESPN, NBC/Peacock, and Amazon Prime Video. Across international territories, the competition reaches fans in more than two hundred countries via local rights holders and the direct-to-consumer NBA League Pass, drawing record global engagement on social media and packing arenas across the continent from opening night through the final buzzer of the Finals.
