Novasports Broadcast Assessment
The Verdict
Novasports 1 delivers a rock-solid 1080p 50fps presentation with sharp bitrate control that handles frantic basketball transitions and end-to-end derby attacks without stutter. The EON TV app navigates smoothly on modern connected screens, though high-demand Athens football derbies can occasionally prompt brief login delays. It remains essential viewing for Greek basketball followers tracking EuroLeague clashes, Premier League obsessives, and domestic Super League fans.
Best For
- EuroLeague basketball fanatics following Panathinaikos and Olympiacos
- Greek Super League supporters tracking home fixtures for major domestic clubs
- English Premier League and Spanish La Liga purists following weekend action
- Greek sports fans benefiting from the cross-carriage deal with Cosmote TV
Pricing Reality
You cannot pick up Novasports 1 over the air with a standard digital antenna because it is an encrypted pay-TV network. Direct digital access through Nova's EON+ sports bouquet starts around €25.50 per month, though signing up typically locks you into a mandatory 24-month contract. Following recent cross-carriage agreements, Cosmote TV subscribers can bolt on Novasports channels for roughly €3 extra per month, making it a bargain if you already pay for Cosmote.
What We Like

- Exclusive Greek broadcast home for EuroLeague basketball, Premier League, and La Liga
- Available across both Nova EON and Cosmote TV platforms following cross-carriage agreements
- Broad device compatibility across smart TVs, Apple TV, Android TV, and mobile apps
Things to Consider
- Standalone Nova EON subscriptions enforce rigid 24-month long-term contract agreements
- Zero free over-the-air Digea antenna reception due to encrypted pay-TV carriage terms
- Digital feeds can run 30 to 45 seconds behind real-time satellite television broadcasts
- Rigid geographic IP restrictions immediately shut down video access outside Greece and the EU
