About Turkish Super Lig
The Süper Lig, commercially designated as the Trendyol Süper Lig, is the top tier of men's professional association football in Turkey, governed by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF). Running from August through late May, eighteen clubs contest a thirty-four-match season to crown the Turkish champion. Renowned for its fierce domestic rivalries, passionate atmospheres, and physical style of play, the league determines Turkey's qualification berths for the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Conference League.
Top teams
Turkish football history is dominated by Istanbul's "Big Three"—Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, and Beşiktaş—who have collectively secured the vast majority of national league titles. The Intercontinental Derby (Kıtalararası Derbi) between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe headlines the domestic calendar, joined by intense clashes involving Beşiktaş and Black Sea heavyweights Trabzonspor. Istanbul Başakşehir represents a modern contender capable of challenging the established elite, while competitive regional sides such as Samsunspor, Göztepe, and Sivasspor frequently test title contenders in hostile away fixtures.
Format
Eighteen clubs compete in a standard double round-robin league schedule, playing each opponent once at home and once away for thirty-four matchdays. Standard football points apply (3 for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss), with head-to-head records used as the primary tiebreaker when clubs finish level on points. The club that finishes top of the standings is crowned Süper Lig champion and enters the UEFA Champions League qualifying phase. At the bottom of the table, the three lowest-ranked clubs are relegated directly to the TFF 1. Lig, replaced by three promoted clubs.
Viewership
In Turkey, domestic broadcasting rights are held exclusively by beIN Sports Turkey (Digitürk), which airs every fixture live across beIN Sports channels and its streaming service TOD. In the United States and Canada, live multi-match coverage and weekly derbies are carried by beIN Sports, beIN Sports en Español, and beIN Sports Connect. In Spain and other European territories without dedicated linear rights, live matches, derby broadcasts, and highlights are accessible through regional sports streaming partners and official federation digital feeds. Massive derby attendances at Rams Park, Chobani Stadium, and Tüpraş Stadium drive peak domestic and diaspora viewership across Europe and the Middle East.
