Live Swedish Hockey Allsvenskan TV & Broadcast Schedule

The Swedish Hockey League (SHL) is the top tier of professional men’s ice hockey in Sweden, sanctioned by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association. Running from September to March, the league is globally recognized for its fast-paced, highly tactical style of play and its status as a premier development pipeline for elite NHL talent. The ultimate objective each season is to capture the Le Mat Trophy, awarded to the Swedish champions.

Top Teams

The league features a compelling mix of historic franchises and modern contenders. Traditional powerhouses like Färjestad BK, Frölunda HC, and Luleå HF boast rich histories and deeply passionate fanbases. In recent years, Skellefteå AIK and Växjö Lakers have established themselves as dominant forces, consistently challenging for championships and setting high standards for organizational excellence.

Competition Format

The regular season consists of 52 games per team in a balanced schedule. Operating with a promotion and relegation system, the top six teams advance directly to the playoff quarterfinals. Teams finishing seventh through tenth compete in a best-of-three wild-card round to secure the remaining postseason spots. The bottom two teams in the standings must defend their top-flight status in a rigorous promotion/relegation play-off series against top contenders from HockeyAllsvenskan, the Swedish second tier.

Broadcasting & Viewership

Domestic live broadcasting rights are anchored by a long-term agreement with the TV4 Group, ensuring comprehensive coverage across linear television and the TV4 Play streaming platform. Internationally, the league is widely accessible across the broader Nordic region via Viaplay, alongside select global sports streaming partnerships that cater to the growing international audience for Scandinavian ice hockey.
