Expert Review & Verdict

The Verdict
Our Verdict: MLB+ operates as an economical audio and digital companion pass, consolidating the legacy At Bat radio subscription with direct-to-consumer MLB Network linear distribution. While it excludes live out-of-market Major League video telecasts, its blackout-free live radio feeds for all thirty clubs, 7,000+ Minor League Baseball broadcasts, and 24/7 MLB Network transmission make it an indispensable, low-cost utility for commuters and baseball purists.

In-Depth Platform Analysis & Coverage
MLB+ serves as Major League Baseball's focused direct-to-consumer digital companion tier, uniting legacy At Bat audio capabilities with authenticated standalone MLB Network access. Subscriptions deliver 24/7 live linear carriage of MLB Network and the whip-around studio telecast MLB Big Inning throughout the entire calendar year without requiring traditional cable credentials. For live game tracking, the platform bypasses the territorial video blackout policies that burden MLB.TV, guaranteeing uninterrupted home, away, and Spanish-language radio broadcasts for every regular-season, spring training, and postseason contest across all thirty franchises. The subscription also unlocks live digital telecasts for more than 7,000 Minor League Baseball (MiLB) affiliate games spanning Triple-A down to Single-A.
From a technical perspective, linear MLB Network and MiLB video broadcasts transmit at 720p or 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second, accompanied by clean stereo audio. Because MLB+ operates primarily as an audio companion and live studio simulcast service, it omits interactive Cloud DVR recording tools; subscribers instead rely on immediate on-demand archives of condensed audio recaps, classic games, and studio replays indexed directly within the official MLB app. Account concurrency permits up to two simultaneous display connections per household. While live audio feeds operate globally without territorial restrictions, video distribution of MLB Network remains strictly geo-fenced to the domestic United States market.
What We Like (Pros)
- • Zero video blackout interruptions on live radio feeds for local in-market and national games
- • Direct-to-consumer 24/7 MLB Network linear carriage without traditional cable authentication
- • Comprehensive live Minor League Baseball video coverage for prospect and affiliate tracking
- • Seamless background audio playback across iOS, Android, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto
What to Consider (Cons)
- • Excludes live out-of-market Major League Baseball regular-season video telecasts
- • Linear MLB Network 24/7 live video transmission is strictly geo-restricted to the United States
- • Minor League Baseball video camera production values vary significantly between ballparks
- • Redundant expense for fans who already maintain an active full-tier MLB.TV subscription
