KPN TV+

KPN TV+ functions as the flagship television distribution platform of Koninklijke KPN N.V., transmitting linear television feeds and on-demand assets via managed multicast IPTV pipelines and adaptive bitrate HLS unicast streams. The service centers around the Android TV-powered KPN TV+ Box (DIW7022), which integrates linear broadcast feeds alongside native Android TV applications. The base channel tier delivers over 65 linear stations—including Dutch public networks NPO 1, NPO 2, and NPO 3, alongside commercial networks from RTL Nederland and Talpa Network—with native carriage of ESPN 1 Netherlands included at no added cost. Full Eredivisie coverage requires the ESPN Compleet add-on pack (€14.99/mo), which distributes ESPN 1 through ESPN 4 in high definition, with marquee domestic fixtures simulcast in native Ultra HD. Additional athletic coverage requires subscribing to Ziggo Sport Totaal (€17.99/mo) or Viaplay (€17.99/mo).

Video transmission outputs in 1080p high definition operating at 50fps broadcast frame rates with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio encoding on supported linear channels, accompanied by select 4K UHD event telecasts on the dedicated TV+ Box hardware. The platform incorporates a 7-day automated backward electronic program guide catch-up buffer, enabling immediate time-shifting, live pausing, and restart viewing without consuming recording storage. Persistent digital recording requires the optional Opnemen Pakket add-on (€4.99/mo), unlocking up to 300 hours of cloud DVR storage with a 365-day retention policy (expandable to 1,000 hours via Opnemen Pakket Extra for an additional €1.00/mo). Concurrency allows up to 2 active streams via the KPN TV+ mobile and web apps alongside provisioned household set-top units. Out-of-home app transmission is geo-fenced to the Netherlands, with cross-border viewing within the European Union enabled strictly in accordance with EU statutory portability frameworks.
