About Turkish Basketbol Super Ligi
The Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL), commercially known as the Türkiye Sigorta Basketbol Süper Ligi, is the top tier of men's professional club basketball in Turkey, administered by the Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF). Contested from late September through June, sixteen teams battle across a thirty-game regular season and knockout playoffs to crown the Turkish champion. Known for its physical interior defense, elite import talent, and high tactical execution, the league serves as one of Europe's premier national domestic competitions, directly determining Turkish qualification for the EuroLeague, EuroCup, and Basketball Champions League.
Top teams
Anadolu Efes and Fenerbahçe Beko stand as the twin heavyweights of Turkish basketball, combining for thirty national championships and regularly contesting the EuroLeague Final Four. Beşiktaş, Galatasaray, and Türk Telekom maintain high-payroll rosters and regular European ambitions, pushed closely by dangerous contenders such as Bahçeşehir Koleji, Karşıyaka (Pınar Karşıyaka), Tofaş, and Manisa Basket. Hostile road environments in Izmir, Bursa, and Ankara ensure that visiting EuroLeague rosters face severe physical and tactical tests throughout the domestic calendar.
Format
Sixteen clubs contest a 30-round double round-robin regular season, playing each opponent home and away. At the midway point after fifteen rounds, the top eight teams qualify for the mid-season Turkish Basketball Cup (Türkiye Kupası). The top eight teams at the close of the full regular season advance to the playoffs, where the quarterfinals are contested as best-of-three series, followed by best-of-five semifinals and finals to decide the scudetto. At the foot of the table, the two lowest-ranked clubs are relegated directly to the Turkish Basketball First League (TBL). Teams operate under strict foreigner registration limits to balance international stars with domestic Turkish talent.
Viewership
In Turkey, domestic live broadcasting rights are held exclusively by beIN Sports Turkey, which televises every regular-season and playoff fixture across beIN Sports channels and streams live on its TOD digital platform. Select marquee games and cup clashes receive linear coverage, while international feeds outside Turkey are distributed via regional sports networks and digital syndication partners. Packed sellout crowds at the Sinan Erdem Dome, Ülker Sports Arena, and the Basketball Development Centre in Istanbul drive consistent domestic and European viewership.
