Live Scottish Premier League TV & Broadcast Schedule

The Scottish Premiership is the top tier of professional soccer in Scotland, contested by 12 clubs fighting for domestic supremacy. Running from August through May, the league is famous for hosting the Old Firm derby—one of the oldest, loudest, and most fiercely contested rivalries in global sports between Glasgow giants Celtic and Rangers. Utilizing a unique "split" format, the league delivers high-stakes drama at both ends of the table, determining champions, European berths, and relegation fates under intense pressure.

Top teams

League dominance is historically fought between Glasgow's heavyweights. The defending champions, Celtic, enter the season fresh off securing their 56th league title and a domestic double in May 2026 under manager Brendan Rodgers. Their eternal rivals Rangers remain a constant threat, hungry to mount a title challenge and break Celtic's grip on the trophy, while St Mirren (defending Premier Sports Cup champions) and Heart of Midlothian lead the chasing pack for European qualification.

Format

The 12 clubs compete in a unique 38-game season. In the first phase, teams play each other three times for a total of 33 matches. The table then splits into the top six (Championship group) and bottom six (Relegation group). Teams play five final matches against the others in their respective groups. The bottom club is automatically relegated to the Championship, while the 11th-placed team enters a high-tension relegation playoff final against the winner of the Championship playoffs.
