About Polish PlusLiga
PlusLiga is the highest level of men's professional club volleyball in Poland, governed by Polska Liga Siatkówki (PLS) under the Polish Volleyball Federation. Contested from October through May, the league stands alongside Italy's SuperLega as one of the two premier domestic volleyball competitions in the world. Driven by massive domestic popularity, sold-out arenas, and deep corporate backing, the division serves as the backbone of Poland's national team dominance and awards direct entry into the CEV Champions League.
Top teams
Championship contention is contested across a cluster of heavyweights, led by Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, Jastrzębski Węgiel, Bogdanka LUK Lublin, and PGE Projekt Warszawa. Historically, PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów, ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, and Asseco Resovia Rzeszów hold major domestic and European trophy hauls, while established outfits like Trefl Gdańsk and Indykpol AZS Olsztyn routinely push for playoff spots. Heavy investment across the league attracts premier Olympic talent, making away fixtures in venues like Zawiercie and Jastrzębie-Zdrój notoriously difficult for visiting favorites.
Format
Following the league's contraction to fourteen teams, clubs contest a twenty-six-round regular season where each opponent meets home and away. Matches use standard FIVB points: 3 points for a 3–0 or 3–1 win, 2 points for a 3–2 win, 1 point for a 3–2 loss, and 0 for a sweep. The top eight teams advance to the postseason playoffs, featuring seeded, multi-match knockout series through the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the championship finals. Teams eliminated in earlier rounds play classification ties to determine final league placements and European competition berths, while the bottom-placed club suffers direct relegation to Tauron 1. Liga.
Viewership
In Poland, the league enjoys massive domestic media coverage anchored exclusively by Polsat Sport, which broadcasts every match live across channels like Polsat Sport 1 and Polsat Sport Extra, alongside online streaming through Polsat Box Go. International viewers in non-exclusive regions access live matches and on-demand replays through Volleyball World's streaming platform, VBTV. High in-arena attendance and strong primetime ratings make PlusLiga one of the most widely watched indoor sports leagues in Central Europe.
