About Moto2

The Moto2 World Championship is the official intermediate class of the FIM Grand Prix motorcycle racing calendar, running directly beneath MotoGP. Racing across more than twenty international circuits between March and November, the championship serves as the final proving ground for riders pushing to reach the premier class. Because all teams run identical control engines and tire compounds, race outcomes hinge on precision setup, chassis tuning, and high-commitment cornering rather than engine power advantages.

Top teams

Championship contention is led by established paddock operations including Aspar Team, Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP, SpeedRS Team, and Marc VDS Racing. Riders like Manuel González, Izan Guevara, Iván Ortolá, David Alonso, Daniel Holgado, and Senna Agius consistently battle at the sharp end for race wins and podiums. Front-running machinery is divided between chassis builders Kalex and Boscoscuro, while tight mechanical parity means qualifying grids are regularly separated by less than a second from pole position down to twentieth place.

Format

Every race weekend features Friday free practice sessions followed by Saturday qualifying, where riders contest two knockout qualifying sessions (Q1 and Q2) to set the starting grid. Unlike the premier class, Moto2 does not run Saturday sprint races; points are awarded solely during the full-distance Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon. All bikes utilize identical Triumph 765cc three-cylinder control engines and spec Pirelli tires, with teams constructing their own prototype chassis around the spec powertrain. World Championship points are awarded to the top fifteen finishers on a standard 25-20-16 sliding scale.

Viewership

In Spain, live broadcasts are anchored exclusively by DAZN alongside distribution through Movistar Plus+, with free-to-air coverage of select Spanish rounds on Atresmedia. In the UK, TNT Sports airs every practice, qualifying, and race session alongside streaming on discovery+, while ITV provides free-to-air highlights and select live races. In the United States, coverage is carried across FOX Sports networks (FS1 and FS2). Worldwide viewers also follow live telemetry and multi-feed camera angles directly through the series' official subscription platform, MotoGP VideoPass.
