Running from August through May, twenty-four clubs play a forty-six-match schedule to win a place in the English Football League (EFL). The final is held at a neutral venue, often Wembley Stadium, to decide the second promotion spot. At the bottom of the table, the four lowest-ranked teams go down to either National League North or National League South.
