Twenty-seven clubs qualify through domestic league performance, domestic cup titles, and three regional sub-tournaments (the Leagues Cup, Central American Cup, and Caribbean Cup). Five tournament champions receive direct byes into the Round of 16, while the remaining twenty-two clubs begin in Round One. All rounds through the semifinals are two-legged, home-and-away series decided on aggregate score with the away-goals rule active.
